BAND

The Soundwaves is the latest iteration of the Pete Stuart and friends project that grew out of the Well Band. The band is based out of Rowayton CT, and is strongly influenced by the best jam bands, like Phish, JRAD, The Dead, SCI, & Govt Mule, as well as classic rock and country. The Group is a collection of musicians ranging in age from 18 -70, and could be a trio one night or a 6 piece the next. Songs include the best from the Stones, Petty, Clapton, Allman Bros, Dead, Phish and others. All musicians have been playing the bar circuit for years and are available for Private Parties.

Bobby Lawrence is the keyboardist and was instrumental (get it) in forming this arrangement of musicians. We currently practice at his studio in Rowayton and he comes from 30+ years of playing tunes in various bands.

James Crafford has been the lead singer over the last few summers and is also a talented guitar player and drummer. When not playing with the Soundwaves he is likely playing a solo acoustic show, chasing college girls or playing with his other Trio.

Andrew Trautman is a very talented jazz guitarist and bassist and we are fortunate to have him play Bass with us. Just out of college he is beginning to grind it out in the real world – but keeping it real with lots of live music.

Max Squire was the bassist of the Well and he still plays gigs with us when his demanding job in downtown NYC allows

On the Drums – we often have the Wells drummer, Los Story. However – he is getting so famous touring the country in the Spadtastics that he rarely has time for The Soundwaves.

We are fortunate to Rowayton/NYC local Will Jayson play drums for us most often.

Like Pete Stuarts father, John who is multiple bands, Bobby has encouraged his son Cameron to play all sorts of instruments. We are lucky to have Cameron sit in with us on guitar and or drums.

The Soundwaves are available for bar gigs, or private parties. We can do acoustic sets for mellower settings or full electric when the party needs to go to 11.

History of The WELL

The Well, based in Norwalk, CT., formed in the fall of 2001, and was originally setup as a quartet. Old friends Pete Stuart and Trent Lewis came in as the guitar players of the band, with Paul Bellucci as the drummer and Max Squire on the bass.

The Well always made its artistic focus live shows. Their concerts range from boot shaking blues, cow tipping country, soul elevating improvised rock, to grovin’ reggae.
For The Well its about not only making sure the audience has a great time, but taking the audience to different places, to a higher place if only for a while.

Many years ago, original drummer Paul Bellucci exploded in a Bizarre gardening accident, and was reincarnated in Pennsyltucky. The Group was lucky to find Los Story to fill the spot, who is the backbone of the best Grateful Dead Tribute band – the Spadtastics. Great Look, good Drummah. In addition Max’s brother Bill Squire joined the Well on the Keys in 2011.

The Well played live in the Connecticut and NYC region from 2004-2014. Over that time they built a dedicated fan base that is frequently at Soundwaves shows.  Playing for such a long period made their musical interplay second nature; the type of synchronicity that only comes from many years of working together.
The bands original tunes are a product of their diverse musical interests and love of improvisational
jamming. October Sessions focus is on songwriting, not instrumental solos for their own sake, but improvised musical passages to support the song structure. Their sound could perhaps be described as a mix of country, blues, rock, and funk, usually not fitting in any one realm for too long.
The songwriting topics on the October Sessions range from tales of outlaws, to hurricane Katrina’s
aftermath, to lost love and redemption. With the release of their 2nd album, Sweet Sunshine, the band spread their creativity even further. Reunion show to come.
